Routine 1: Waking up the Ball – Foot Forward

Bending your foot in this routine trains it to roll through the ball into the toes. The more asleep this area has been, the more challenging this action may be for you. Remember that pressing separately into each toe joint wakes up the entire ball of the foot. Pressing strongly down into each joint has the paradoxical effect that when you finish and take the Power Stance, the ball feels lighter, as though it’s hardly touching the floor. And you need this lift in order to roll successfully through the ball – you can’t do this if it’s pressing heavily into the floor.
